Rainbow Services

Investing in the smiles and laughter of children with Cancer, Sickle Cell Disease, and Hemophilia

Of all children with chronic illness, perhaps none require more emotional support than those with cancer, sickle cell disease or hemophilia. Rainbow Services is a program conducted by the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Section at East Carolina University’s School of Medicine. The purpose of the program is to help pediatric patients with cancer, sickle cell disease, hemophilia and other chronic blood disorders and their families achieve a brighter outlook. Rainbow Services includes a number of activities designed, in two camp-style settings – Camp Hope and Camp Rainbow, to give these children and their families a break from the medical experience and a chance to renew their strength to face the daily challenges of a chronic illness.

We also host an annual Christmas party for our patients and families and offer support for educational opportunities throughout the region, teen programming focused on transition, and additional events throughout the year.

Financial contributions can be made through the ECU Medical & Health Sciences Foundation and can be dedicated to the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Priority Fund, the Rainbow Services Fund (which supports both Camps Hope and Rainbow), or the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Social Work Fund.
